Using Overseas Chinese as a Bridge, Using Media as an Intermediary: CP Center Joins Hands with Chinese Media to Promote Global Connectivity for Chinese Business

"Without looking, one wouldn't know—what a marvelous world it is." Over30years ago, Zhengda Variety Show opened a window for the Chinese to view the world. Today, at the CP Center in Beijing's CBD, a symposium themed “Global Connectivity” is enabling the world to witness China's opportunities through an increasing number of Chinese media outlets.

On March 12, heads of Chinese media from nine countries, representatives from China News Service, and the China-region management of CP Group's commercial real estate arm—as well as representatives from several companies housed within the CP Center—gathered in CP Center to explore how to use overseas Chinese as a bridge and media as an intermediary to jointly help enterprises, especially Chinese businesses, connect more effectively with global markets.

CP Center: The “Homecoming Harbor” for Global Chinese Entrepreneurs

As the China headquarter of CP Group and a home for Chinese entrepreneurs across the globe, the CP Center has, since its completion in2019, consistently adhered to the core philosophy of “benefiting the country, benefiting the people, and benefiting enterprises.” It has established itself as a pivotal platform for connecting resources between domestic and international companies.

It is reported that the initial vision for the CP Center arose from a shared aspiration between the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Of The State Council and CP Group's esteemed chairman, Xie Guomin. They hoped to create an office building in Beijing exclusively for global overseas Chinese entrepreneurs—a twin-tower structure that would serve as a platform and a link for exchanges and discussions between global Chinese business communities and between these businesses and government entities. Thus, the CP Center was born.

Wang Xiaoli, CEO of CP Group's Commercial Real Estate China-Region Business Management and General Manager of the CP Center, explained that by December 2024 the project achieved the seven-star top-tier commercial building certification. This accolade was earned thanks to its architectural design, healthy green certification, unique business ecosystem based on the “Great Health+Great Future+Professional Services” model, high-quality tenant industry structure, outstanding operational management, and its active contribution to regional economic vitality.

Moreover, as one of the global reception hall operators, the CP Center links its tenant companies to diverse resources through various international events. In the future, it aims to collaborate with the broader overseas Chinese business community to develop into a multifunctional comprehensive platform where overseas Chinese business, enterprises, and capital converge, ultimately becoming the most influential global Chinese business building.

“CP Center is the home for overseas Chinese entrepreneurs,” stated Hong Bo, Executive Vice President of CP Group and Chairman of CP Group's Commercial Real Estate in China. She expressed hope that by linking with overseas Chinese media, even more Chinese business enterprises could venture onto the global stage.

Chinese Media: Cracking the Cultural Code of the “Last Mile”

Why do Chinese enterprises need Chinese media to go global?

Chen Lin, President of Canada's Solo Magazine, believes that overseas Chinese media are better equipped to help companies like CP Group with brand promotion overseas. “When companies reshape their image using local anchors and localized language, they appear more like local enterprises,” he commented.

Similarly, Wang Junlin, founder of Korea's Icnkr.com, remarked, “Our shared cultural roots enable Chinese media to convey brand value accurately within a common context and to deeply interpret cultural connotations, thereby bridging the understanding gap between enterprises and overseas markets.”

Ma Lin, Director of the Beijing Office of France's Nouvelles d'Europe, added, “What we need to solve is not merely the challenge of ‘going out’ but that of ‘going in’—addressing the ‘last mile’ problem when companies integrate into local markets.” He pointed out that the reporting by overseas Chinese media carries a "human touch" that is acceptable to the local people; the content disseminated by Nouvelles d'Europe can serve as both dinner table conversation and a tool to cut through some of the biases that exist against China overseas.

Attracting Phoenixes to Build a Nest: Also Benefiting the Host Country of Chinese Business

According to a 2022 survey published by the World Federation of Chinese Entrepreneurs Organization, there are approximately 53.23 million overseas Chinese, and people of Chinese descent globally. Among them, the Chinese business community involved in trade, investment, and other fields controls significant global commercial resources, while the new generation of Chinese business leaders is emerging as a key force in linking domestic and international markets.

Cui Zhishen, Editor-in-Chief of New Zealand's Asia-Pacific Times, commented, “CP Group is like a bridge—one end connects with ASEAN's overseas Chinese business while the other reaches into the domestic market.” He expressed his expectation that CP Group, through a model of “group development plus precise empowerment,” will further tap into “overseas Chinese resources” to achieve a win-win scenario for all parties.

“The new driving force among new generation of overseas Chinese is the youth,” Hong Bo noted. She expressed hope that by leveraging CP Group's globalized platform, they could achieve “attracting phoenixes to build a nest”—using Chinese media to broadcast the role Chinese business enterprises play in their host countries and to help these companies localize. She emphasized, echoing Mr.Xie Guomin's words, that this is especially beneficial for the host country. CP Group is committed to working hand in hand with overseas Chinese media to achieve this goal and to transform the CP Center into a multifunctional comprehensive platform where overseas Chinese entrepreneurs, enterprises, and capital converge, establishing it as the most influential global Chinese business building.
