Transforming lives through music and community: My journey with The 8 Foundation

Over the past year, my journey with The 8 Foundation has been transformative, filled with new connections, meaningful experiences, and personal growth. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude towards the organization and demonstrate the impact it had on my life. Prior to joining The 8 Foundation, I often found myself pursuing volunteer opportunities that didn't align with my personal endeavors. It wasn't until my friends introduced me to this organization that I cemented my love for music performance. It was here that I found a way to combine my passion for music with the joy of giving back to the community. Every time I participate in the Light of Music program, I feel a sense of compassion as I look upon the sea of smiling faces.
Through Light of Music, I’ve met wonderful friends and had the opportunity to collaborate with others who share my passion. From valuable insights into the music community to strengthening friendships, each Light of Music concert gave each of us the connections we deeply cherish. As a media vice president, I had the honor to interview performers and audience as well. Every time our performers take their final bows, the senior citizens watch on and clap with unmatched enthusiasm and energy.
In addition to deepening my love for music performance, I also discovered an unexpected passion for video editing. Initially, I didn't realize the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment I would feel as I completed each project. Revisiting past performances and listening to the life stories of senior citizens became a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Through this process, I was able to create new content and display the dedication each volunteer puts in to achieve our common goal. Even with a diverse community of volunteers, we set aside our differences and focus to create a stronger sense of community. Regardless of the event, each volunteer and team member of The 8 Foundation pours their heart and soul into ensuring the success of each proceeding. The dedication they bring is truly beyond words—it's something you can only fully appreciate by witnessing their efforts firsthand. It's in those moments that the magic unfolds, as every piece seamlessly comes together through their hard work and passion. It is through the unwavering dedication of our team that The 8 Foundation continues to create and expand opportunities for meaningful events.
Following the holiday season, we proudly solidified two major collaborations: one with the Arizona Chinese New Year Show and the highly anticipated Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves NBA singing performance. These incredible partnerships reflect our ongoing commitment to growth and our mission to provide even more opportunities to the community. None of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our dedicated parents, whose efforts enable us to offer unique experiences to hundreds of children and students. Through programs like the Light of My Music, Feed My Starving Children, NBA singing performances, and Arizona Chinese New Year Show, students have the chance to give back to their community while earning service hours. These programs not only enrich the lives of others but also teach students the value of compassion and community service.
During these festive events, we are reminded of the importance of making a difference in the lives of those who may feel alone, especially as the holiday season approaches. Witnessing the gratitude and joy of those we serve fosters a deep sense of appreciation for our own fortunate circumstances. It’s in these moments, as we see smiles light up the faces of others, that we truly understand the impact of our collective efforts. The incredible dedication and commitment displayed by every member of The 8 Foundation inspire me to strive to be a better person. Their passion encourages me to put forth the same effort to create positive change in someone else’s life. I hope that through my journey with The 8 Foundation, I can inspire others just as much as this organization has inspired me.
