The Fire Kirin FLL team made up of the 2023 Arizona State Championship

Phoenix,Arizona-The Fire Kirin FLL team,made up of young students aged9-14,has won the2023Arizona State Championship and will be heading to the World Festival in Houston,Texas in April to compete against elite teams from around the world.The team,consisting of Daniel Gu(12years old),Helen Ling(14years old),Brandon Cheung(11years old)and Allan Luo(9years old)were coached by experienced FLL Coach Chao Ling,who is a senior software engineer at Garmin and adjunct faculty at CGCC and SNHU.

The Arizona State Championship,which was held over the weekend,saw50teams from across the state(who advanced from regional competitions amongst270+teams in Arizona)compete in a series of challenges that tested their problem-solving and teamwork skills.The Fire Kirin team,who have been preparing for the competition for months,impressed the judges with their innovative solutions and their ability to work together as a cohesive unit.

The World Festival,which will be held in Houston,Texas in April,is the pinnacle event for FLL teams and will feature teams from over80countries.The Fire Kirin team is thrilled to have the opportunity to represent Arizona and compete against the best teams from around the world.

"We are so proud of the Fire Kirin team for their hard work and dedication,"said Coach Ling."They have put in countless hours of preparation and it's amazing to see their efforts pay off.We can't wait to see them compete on the global stage in Houston."

       Coach Ling has led the FLL team to the state competition many times since he started the LEGO robotics competition course at Hope Chinese School in2017,and has won awards such as the first place in Robot Design and the first place Champion at state level.He has given many talks about FLL,hoping that more students and parents will learn about FLL and participate in this activity and to reach out to more FLL teams throughout Arizona.
